The beautiful and historic city of Córdoba is a must visit destination during your stay in Andalucia! Once the second largest city in Europe, this World Heritage Site is rich in history dating back to Roman Times.
The city is dominated by the exquisite Mezquita – once the largest Mosque of the European Moors and later converted to a Catholic Cathedral. You absolutely must visit – tickets are available online to avoid queues.
The whitewashed streets of the Jewish quarter are lined with small shops and fabulous restaurants serving traditional Córdoban favourites such as salmorejo, rabo de toro and flamenquín.
The city has plenty of wonderful green spaces and excellent shopping – and it’s size is perfect for exploring on foot.
Other must sees are the gardens of the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos (Palace of the Christina Kings) and the Roman bridge.
At a two hour drive from Nerja, Córdoba can easily be visited in a day – although I would highly recommend spending one or two nights to really get a feel for this beautiful city. The Barroso Centre apartments offer a perfect base from which to discover the city; http://barrosocentro.com.
